HILLIARD, Norman Lynwood, born May 23, 1928, died November 19, 2016. A professor emeritus of The School of Pharmacy of Medical College of Virginia and a lifelong resident of Richmond, he is survived by his daughters Catherine Miles (Caleb), Norma Anderson and grandsons, Caleb H. Miles, Taylor Miles, and Andy Anderson. He is also survived by his sister, Frances Hilliard Pritchard and many dear extended family members. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 65 years, Lola West Hilliard, his father, William Lynwood Hilliard; his mother, Gladys Louise Hilliard; and his brother, Marvin Earle...

HILLIARD, Norman Lynwood, born May 23, 1928, died November 19, 2016. A professor emeritus of The School of Pharmacy of Medical College of Virginia and a lifelong resident of Richmond, he is survived by his daughters Catherine Miles (Caleb), Norma Anderson and grandsons, Caleb H. Miles, Taylor Miles, and Andy Anderson. He is also survived by his sister, Frances Hilliard Pritchard and many dear extended family members. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 65 years, Lola West Hilliard, his father, William Lynwood Hilliard; his mother, Gladys Louise Hilliard; and his brother, Marvin Earle Hilliard.

A graduate of MCV at the School of Pharmacy, he also earned his Masters of Education and Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University. He practiced retail pharmacy and then served as a Pharmacy Officer in the Air Force, reaching the rank of Captain. Later he taught at MCV and was eventually appointed to serve as Vice Provost and Financial Administrator in the Department of Continuing Studies at VCU. He was a member of Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity, Rho Chi honorary Pharmaceutical Fraternity, and a member of the Galen Society.

Norman was a longtime member of Trinity United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Adult Fellowship class. He was also a member of the Lion's Club and the rogue spin-off group, The ROLEOs (Retired Old Lions Eating Out). He enjoyed playing golf regularly with a group of good friends as well.

A celebration of his life will be held Sunday, December 4, at 1:30, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 903 Forest Avenue, Richmond, Va. 23229., with a reception to follow.
