KURTZ, Carroll Turner, our beautiful, loving mother, passed away peacefully on June 13, 2017, and was reunited with her husband of 59 years, Edward Louis Kurtz Sr., who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her beloved grandson, Edward Louis Kurtz III; and her parents, Joshua and Genevieve Turner. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Page Kurtz Grace and husband, Jack; her son, Edward Louis Kurtz Jr. and wife, Linda; her beloved grandchildren, Kevin Grace, Brian Grace, Rachel Grace Reisinger, Mary Claire Kurtz and Alex Kurtz; her sisters, Betty Turner and Louise Turner Barnes; and many loving nieces and nephews. Carroll was born and raised in Painter on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. She graduated from the College of William and Mary where she became and continued to be an active member of Chi Omega sorority. Carroll and her husband, Ed were long-time, active members of River Road Presbyterian Church. There, she was involved in Sunday school, Women's Circle, Hospitality Committee and the River Road Rovers senior group. Carroll was also an active member of Tri-Club, Tuckahoe Women's Club and the West End Garden Club. She enjoyed opera, playing bridge, and won many awards for her paintings and photography. She also liked playing golf and was an active member of the 9-hole group at Richmond Country Club. Carroll and Ed loved traveling and took wonderful trips all over the world. Carroll was a caring, gracious Southern lady who always had a smile on her face and kind words to brighten someone else's day. Carroll will be deeply missed and forever remembered. The family will receive relatives and friends Monday, June 19, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Rd., Richmond, Va. A memorial service will be held at River Road Presbyterian Church, 8960 River Rd., Richmond, Va. 23229 on Tuesday, June 20, at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at Westhampton Memorial Park, 10000 Patterson Ave., Richmond, Va. 23238.
