Sykes, Archie Milton, 84, of Richmond, died Monday, May 21, 2012. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie E. and Eva L. Sykes; two sisters, Anita Hall and Irma Sykes; and a brother, Randolph Sykes. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Gail E. Sykes; sister, Eleanor Montgomery of Columbus, OH; nieces and nephews, Wayne Sykes, Nancy Vadersen, Betty Gail Long, Kenneth Sykes, Paula Abbott, Bill Boyer, Bonnie Hall, Joan Miller, Kenneth and Doug Hall.

Sykes; two sisters, Anita Hall and Irma Sykes; and a brother, Randolph Sykes. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Gail E. Sykes; sister, Eleanor Montgomery of Columbus, OH; nieces and nephews, Wayne Sykes, Nancy Vadersen, Betty Gail Long, Kenneth Sykes, Paula Abbott, Bill Boyer, Bonnie Hall, Joan Miller, Kenneth and Doug Hall.

Mr. Sykes was born in Emporia, VA. He graduated from Greensville High School in 1944; served in the U.S. Navy during World War II; graduated from the University of Richmond, School of Business Administration; worked for C & O Rail Road, T. B. Wells & Co., Richmond Steel Co., and retired from Bristol Steel & Iron Works, Inc. as Chief Accountant & Office Manager; and was a member of American Legion Post 244 in Glen Allen.

The family will receive friends 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Rd. A graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. Friday in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Online condolences at www.woodyfuneralhomeparham.com.
