CHAKALES, Anne Leftwich MacKenzie, a native and lifelong resident of Richmond, daughter of Alyce Burwell Caldwell Dabney and James Norwood MacKenzie; and the devoted wife of Robert Edward Chakales, departed the physical world for her heavenly reward on March 30, 2015. She was preceded in death by her parents and three siblings, Seth Dabney MacKenzie, James Norwood MacKenzie and Rosalyn MacKenzie Collier. CHAKALES, Anne Leftwich MacKenzie, a native and lifelong resident of Richmond, daughter of Alyce Burwell Caldwell Dabney and James Norwood MacKenzie; and the devoted wife of Robert Edward Chakales, departed the physical world for her heavenly reward on March 30, 2015. She was preceded in death by her parents and three siblings, Seth Dabney MacKenzie, James Norwood MacKenzie and Rosalyn MacKenzie Collier. She is survived by her five children, Sandra Chakales Parrish and husband, Edward, Robert Edward Chakales Jr., James MacKenzie Chakales and wife, Sarah, Dabney Chakales Erwin (Greensboro, N.C.) and Susan Meredith Chakales (Raleigh, N.C.); along with 10 grandchildren, five great- grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Known affectionately as Mommie Anne, she was a loving mother and grandmother. Anne was a direct descendant of several of the founders of Jamestown, the Burwell, Caldwell, Dabney and Leftwich Colonial Families of Virginia. Anne graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Richmond. She was very active in supporting those in need through her faithful participation and leadership in various clubs such as the Richmond Children's Hospital Sunshine Circle, National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Tuckahoe Women's Club, Monacan Women's Club, Leftwich Historical Society and the Tuckahoe Women's Republican Club. Anne was a faithful member of Second Baptist Church. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, April 4, at 12 noon at Second Baptist Church, at the corner of River Road and Gaskins Road. A reception will follow.
